As parents, your kids would trust you in almost everything. They would depend on you especially during the times when they do not know what to do. It is also your job to educate them in things especially the important ones. One would be about fire. Try to bring them to your fire extinguisher cabinets and tell them what the fire extinguishers are. More so, you may even give them a demonstration so that would have an idea on how it works.
If you want to let them try it, do so. Just be sure that you are there to give them a hand. Even though you saw them use the fire extinguisher, do not be too trusting with the kids because they might use them improperly. You still have to make sure that they do not play with it since this is one very important item in the house. Giving them responsibility on the fire extinguisher is something that they can be proud. At least they know that they have a role in the household.
However, you should let them realize that the fire fighting phase is not for them. Try to explain to them that since they are kids, all they can do now is to follow what you tell them. In time, when they get older, they will be able to do the things that you do now. Showing them some videos on what the fire can do to the house is also helpful because they can remember that they should not play with the flames. One wrong move and they may end up burning the whole place down.
When you start your own family and plan to have a house of your own, try to make the home as safe as possible. Even though it would cost you so much money, you are doing this for your kids. They are your priority now. You can always find other ways for you house to withstand such incidents. You can use your ingenuity as well as creativity when making your abode. All you have to do is to do some research and be open with your architect. Merging your ideas to create one paradise is definitely something you want to achieve.
Aside from the regular firefighting equipment, you should also know how to use a fire hose. Others would say that leave the hose to the firefighters. However, there is nothing wrong too if you want to learn how to use it. The only problem here is if the firefighters would allow you to use it. You can always ask them politely and see if they would say yes. When they do, make sure that you give them something in return like bring them cupcakes on your next visit. Anything would do as long as you show them that you appreciate the things that they did for you. They are the ones who risk their lives to make sure that you and your community can sleep soundly at night without worrying about combating fire.
